Where the rules come from
Federal requirements come from the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design. States and cities can add their own rules, and California properties around Tahoe and Truckee follow California building code as well.
What's usually marked
- Accessible stalls and van-accessible stalls
- Access aisles beside the stalls
- The International Symbol of Accessibility
- Signage at each accessible stall, often a separate item
Who to ask
For the exact count and layout your site needs, check with your architect, the local building department, or a Certified Access Specialist (CASp) in California. We'll stripe to those requirements.
